Ricí Ni Chléirigh: SHEDDING 2018
Ricí Ní Chléirigh is a Dublin based performance Artist. She uses knitting and other forms of craft to explore the human condition, in all it’s absurdity and futility as well as it’s simplicity and beauty.
Ní Chléirigh received a B.A. in Fine Art from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin in 2013 and completed her MFA (Sculpture) there in 2015.Ricí's work explores the dynamics of love and loss in performances using the ancient and basic skill of knitting. Through slow, meditative, often collaborative works she examines how bodies relate, both to other bodies and to the world around them. The collective works focus on the act of de-construction, by taking things apart they can be best understood. The unmaking, or collapsing of things opens up the way for the new to emerge. It is where transformation happens. She has exhibited widely in Ireland, most recently at the Boyle Arts Festival, 2015 and the Harold's Cross Festival2016 exhibiting both live performance and performances to video.
